Responsibilities
Perform or review technical security assessments of computing environments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies
Validate and verify system security requirements and establish secure system designs
Design, develop, implement, and integrate IA and security systems and components
Support RMF processes and security authorization activities in compliance with DoD and NIST frameworks
Focus on technical security assessments and basic IA integration tasks
Build IA into systems deployed to operational environments
Assist architects and developers in implementing security functionality
Enforce trusted relationships among external systems and architectures
Contribute to security planning, risk analysis, and certification activities
Lead risk analysis, mitigation, and management efforts across the program lifecycle
Provide expert guidance to other security engineers and mentor junior personnel
Interact with customers and program leadership to align cybersecurity objectives with mission priorities
Design and validate security architectures for multi-enclave and cross-domain environments
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Systems Security Engineering, or related discipline for Level 0
Four (4) years of ISSE experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree for Level 0
Bachelor's degree in a related field for Level 1
Four (4) years of ISSE experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree (total of 11 years without degree) for Level 1
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Systems Security Engineering, or related discipline for Level 3
Master's degree may substitute for 2 years of experience; four (4) years of additional ISSE experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree for Level 3
DoD 8570 compliance with IASAE Level 3 is required for all levels
CISSP and ISSEP certifications are mandatory for Level 3; strongly preferred for Levels 0 and 1
Active Secret clearance (minimum) is required; TS/SCI strongly preferred
U.S. Citizens Only; No dual citizenship permitted
Onsite in secure government facility (SCIF) in the Maryland area
Preferred
CISSP and ISSEP certifications are strongly preferred for Levels 0 and 1
TS/SCI clearance is strongly preferred
