Responsibilities
Design fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), IBC, IFC, and local AHJ requirements
Prepare detailed fire alarm drawings, layouts, riser diagrams, and device calculations
Select appropriate fire alarm equipment and devices based on project scope and code requirements
Review architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings to ensure proper system coordination
Coordinate designs with project managers, engineers, and field personnel
Prepare submittal packages, including product data, battery calculations, and sequence of operations
Respond to plan review comments and revise drawings as required
Support permitting and AHJ approval processes
Assist with design-build and value engineering solutions when applicable
Maintain organized project documentation and design files
Qualification
Required
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Drafting, or related field, or equivalent industry experience
2-5 years of fire alarm design experience
strong working knowledge of NFPA codes and local fire alarm requirements
proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit
familiarity with major fire alarm manufacturers and systems
ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications
