Director of Information Technology
County of Erie, PA is seeking a Director of Information Technology to oversee the County’s network security and information systems infrastructure. This role includes managing IT staff, developing IT policies, and ensuring effective utilization of automated systems to support the County’s mission and objectives.
Responsibilities
Develop and direct information technology strategy in support of the County’s mission and core objectives
Assign and review the work of IT staff
Conduct and oversee performance evaluations and implement disciplinary actions as warranted
Maintain budget and expenditures within the IT department
Maintain current knowledge of information technology systems in order to recommend modifications, enhancements and upgrades to the County’s computer systems
Analyze the efficiency of all computer systems and propose improvements
Develop a long-range County-wide master plan for information technology; define short and long term goals and objectives; develop and administer appropriate timelines to effectively accomplish goals and objectives on time and on budget
Negotiate contracts for service, support and purchases of computer technology for the County
Interacts regularly with the County Executive, Director of Administration and County Directors to assess information system needs
Provides technical support to users
Perform other duties as assigned or delegated to the office by the County Executive and/or the Director of Administration
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
Minimum of 7 years of Experience in Planning Information Systems and Computer and Network Support Experience
Minimum of 5 years of Direct Supervision of other Qualified Professionals
Extensive knowledge of and experience with IT systems, processes and best practices
Extensive knowledge of and experience with the principles of leadership and employee management
Ability to lead, motivate and manage staff
Experience with networking, servers and workstations in a Windows and Office 365 environment
Knowledge of current telecommunications principles, protocols and practices
Knowledge of various networking protocols, security and infrastructure
Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
Excellent organizational and project management skills
Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems of a complex nature
Superior verbal and written communication skills
Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
Ability to work professionally and respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds and skills
Ability to travel occasionally as deemed necessary and appropriate by the County Executive
Preferred
Master's Degree in a related field
