Regional Storyteller

Special Olympics New York is seeking a Regional Storyteller to amplify the voices of athletes, coaches, and volunteers while supporting fundraising events. This role involves creating engaging content for social media and capturing inspiring stories from local competitions and events.

Responsibilities

Attend local competitions and fundraising events (typically nights & weekends) to capture unforgettable moments
Develop engaging social media content in real time across platforms like Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, and TikTok
Write press releases and web features that showcase the spirit of your local community, and pitch them to media outlets
Use engagement data to make our storytelling even more effective and far-reaching
Work closely with regional staff to make sure each story shines
Complete online training to become a certified Special Olympics New York volunteer

Qualification

Social Media ManagementStorytellingContent CreationWriting SkillsInterpersonal Skills

Required

A natural communicator with excellent writing and interpersonal skills
A self-starter who thrives working independently (with regular remote check-ins)
A social media enthusiast who knows a good story when they see it and has the ability to share it and inspire audience engagement on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and TikTok

Preferred

Someone with experience creating content for nonprofits, agencies, or brands
