Responsibilities
Lead recruitment efforts: job descriptions, postings, screenings, and onboarding
Ensuring completion by department heads of employee trainings, compliance documentation, and performance reviews
Ensure compliance with disciplinary processes and leave policies
Maintain employee records, reporting systems, and audit-ready compliance files
Build employee engagement: recognition programs, staff lunches, holiday events, customer giveaways, newsletters, and seasonal communications
Promote culture and retention through leadership development, cross-training programs, and assistance with succession planning
Support adherence to federal/state labor laws and scrap-industry regulations
Handle employee relations matters with professionalism, clarity, and empathy
Lead community and industry engagement efforts, including trade school partnerships and career fair/event participation
Qualification
Required
3+ years of HR / People & Culture management experience
Strong knowledge of employee relations, compliance, and labor laws
Experience with hiring, onboarding, performance management, and training coordination
Proven ability to build employee engagement and support a positive workplace culture
Highly organized, professional, and comfortable handling sensitive matters
Strong communication skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organization
