Responsibilities
Hands-on experience configuring modern data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Synapse, AWS Glue/Athena, or Google BigQuery
Setting up data connections and credentials
Configuring catalogs, metadata, schemas, tags, and business terms
Applying role-based access control and security policies
Registering data assets and managing lineage/metadata
Understanding of ingestion patterns (batch, micro-batch, streaming) and how platforms integrate with ETL tools
Familiarity with ETL/ELT tools (DataStage, Informatica, Talend, dbt, ADF, StreamSets)
Knowledge of data governance fundamentals (glossary, classification, access policies)
Ability to work directly with requestors to gather requirements and turn them into actionable steps
Strong documentation, communication, and cross-team coordination skills
Cloud knowledge — especially Azure networking, identities, and data services — is beneficial
Knowledge of IBM Watson Data tools is a plus
Familiarity with Iceberg tables, Delta Lake, Trino/Presto, or federated query engines
Experience working with catalogs such as Unity Catalog, Alation, Collibra, or AWS Glue Data Catalog
Experience in large enterprise environments or managed-service models
Light scripting skills (Python, SQL, shell) for automating recurring configuration tasks
Qualification
