Instructor / Assistant Professor

Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate mathematics courses in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the United States Military Academy (USMA)
Instruct in the department's core program which includes courses in mathematical modeling, calculus and probability and statistics
Advise undergraduate research
Instruct upper-level electives, including those that support one of the department's three majors, Mathematical Sciences, Operations Research and Applied Statistics and Data Science
Participate in research, service, scholarly activities and faculty development
Support the personal growth and development of cadets in and out of the classroom, as a role model for future leaders of the Nation
Qualification
Required
Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or higher that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position
Applicants must possess a combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above
Academic accomplishment (Doctorate is preferred) in Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Data Science or closely related field
Ability to teach mathematics and/or statistics courses in the USMA core program and mathematics and/or statistics elective courses
Demonstrated potential to actively participate in faculty development, research and service
Ability to support the personal growth and development of cadets in and out of the classroom as a role model for future leaders of the Nation
Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience
If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program
