Responsibilities
Perform structural analyses to determine safe load carrying capacities using AASHTOWare BrR and other software
Review existing bridge file documentation, plans, and inspection reports to develop analytical models
Prepare detailed load rating reports and posting recommendations
Perform quality control reviews of calculations performed by junior staff
Assist in the development of bridge rehabilitation concepts based on load capacity findings
Qualification
Required
4 to 8 years of experience in the structural analysis, load rating, and evaluation of vehicular bridges for various local, county, state, and federal clients
Professional engineer certification with ability to obtain licensure in other states through comity
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly related to technical topics
Willing to travel up to 20% of the time, nationally
Physically capable of performing occasional field verification tasks
Preferred
Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
Advanced proficiency in AASHTOWare Bridge Rating (BrR)
Experience with finite element modeling software (LARSA 4D, SAP2000, CSI Bridge)
FHWA Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges NHI-130055 Course
Experience with the load rating of non-standard or complex structures
