Responsibilities

Responsible for thermal components from conception through development, testing, and integration
Support internal or external development of thermal components
Part of the thermal hardware group for multiple generations of lunar landers
Collaborate closely with the thermal analysis group within the Lunar Thermal Integrated Product Team
Work with subsystem specifications, mission environments, and design and construction standards
Produce outputs including component specifications, test plans, test execution reports, and test reports
Perform occasional thermal analysis
Develop short-term and long-term development plans
Make decisions on make or buy for thermal components

Required

Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent on-the-job experience in the spacecraft design industry
3-5 years of relevant Thermal Engineering experience
Understanding of thermal fundamentals
Demonstrated experience building and testing hardware
Understanding of aerospace hardware verification and validation process
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships

Preferred

M.S. or PhD degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
8 years of relevant aerospace experience
Familiarity with common spacecraft thermal hardware
Solid understanding of pumped fluid loop hardware such as pumps, cold plates, radiators, valves, heat exchangers, etc
Solid understanding of passive thermal control hardware such has conventional and cryogenic multilayer insulation, temperature sensors and patch heaters
Experience solving a variety of thermal problems demonstrating breadth in application
Vendor technical management experience
Familiarity with Thermal Desktop and Sinda/Fluint, including model validation and test correlation
