Senior Business Intelligence Developer

Responsibilities
Design, build, and enhance Strategy dossiers, dashboards, and reports using prompts, filters, drill paths, and guided navigation
Partner with data architects and engineers to develop and maintain Strategy schema and metadata objects (attributes, facts, hierarchies) and reusable enterprise-aligned metrics
Implement scheduling, subscriptions, alerts, and thresholds using Strategy Distribution Services to deliver timely insights
Manage the full analytics object lifecycle, including development, testing, documentation, and promotion to production using packaging, migration, and change management best practices
Optimize performance through SQL and VLDB tuning, intelligent cube design, caching strategies, and proactive troubleshooting of production issues
Promote self-service analytics by standardizing templates and visual standards, training users, and consulting on KPI definition and dashboard design
Partner with business owners and data engineers to define data quality rules, reconciliation checks, and validation processes
Build and maintain data quality monitoring dashboards and scorecards to track data health and issue resolution
Develop and maintain operational monitoring for Strategy jobs (cube builds, refreshes, and distributions)
Create and maintain runbooks for incident response, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement
Support data governance by documenting data definitions and lineage, enforcing access controls, and participating in audits and compliance activities
Lead modernization and migration initiatives from legacy reporting tools to Strategy, ensuring functional parity, improved usability, and enhanced performance
Serve as the Strategy subject-matter expert for platform upgrades, patches, and environment changes, coordinating testing, documentation, and stakeholder communications
Collaborate closely with internal clients, IT, and Financial Systems to deliver effective reporting solutions and proactively develop new BI capabilities aligned with strategic goals
Mentor and review the work of developers and power users; contribute reusable components, standards, and automation (e.g., Strategy SDK/REST API, scripting) to improve team productivity
Consistently model and promote the Firm’s Client Service Principles through leadership, collaboration, and high-quality work product
Ensure compliance with the Firm’s Information Handling Policy by safeguarding confidential and personal information and promptly reporting any suspected breaches
Adhere to the Firm’s General Safety Practices and all department- or building-specific safety requirements
Qualification
Required
7+ years of experience in data analysis and business intelligence, including 5+ years of MicroStrategy (Strategy) development in an enterprise environment
Advanced MicroStrategy expertise (Workstation/Developer), including: Metadata and schema design, Metrics, dossiers, and report development, Security configuration (groups, ACLs, security filters), Distribution Services (scheduling and distribution)
Strong relational database and advanced SQL skills, including performance tuning and troubleshooting complex queries
Hands-on experience with BI SDLC best practices, including: Dev/test/prod promotions, Change control and documentation
Strong analytical, data modeling, and problem-solving skills, with expert-level SQL
Expertise in data visualization and storytelling for both technical and non-technical audiences
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, with high attention to detail and data quality
Strong project management, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills, including interaction with senior leadership and C-level executives
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, Business, or equivalent professional experience
Preferred
Exposure to Strategy REST APIs/SDKs, automation, or embedded analytics preferred
3+ years of Tableau development experience (Desktop, Server, or Cloud)
Familiarity with Power BI and SAP BusinessObjects/Crystal Reports a plus, particularly for BI platform migrations
Experience with Elite 3E or legal/financial systems strongly preferred
