InternSandia National Laboratories is the nation's premier science and engineering lab for national security and technology innovation, and they are seeking an Intern Year Round - R&D Undergraduate to join their Geothermal Research Department. The intern will perform various chemical treatments, set up experiments, and assist in laboratory maintenance under the guidance of a mentor.
Responsibilities
Set up batch reactor experiments
Collect and preserve aqueous and solid samples
Run analytical instruments, such as ICP-MS, UV-vis, FT-IR
Conduct work in a multi-disciplinary team environment
Present results to your supervisor
Qualification
Required
Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship
Preferred
Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Geosciences, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Experience working in a chemistry laboratory, familiarity with one or more types of analytical equipment
Knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Familiarity with different chemical separations techniques
