Responsibilities

Analyze traffic signal and roadway lighting plans, specifications, and bid documents
Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, subcontractors, and scheduling
Conduct electrical quantity takeoffs, including conduit, conductors, poles, signal heads, cabinets, controllers, ITS components, foundations, and related system elements
Communicate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to ensure constructability alignment
Coordinate with material suppliers and vendors to obtain accurate pricing and maintain up‑to‑date cost data
Identify potential risks, cost-saving opportunities, and value‑engineering options
Assist with bid preparation, proposal documentation, and compliance requirements

Required

Strong plan interpretation skills
Attention to detail
Solid understanding of electrical construction within the transportation sector

Preferred

Experience in traffic signal, roadway lighting, or electrical infrastructure estimating
Knowledge of NJDOT standards, local municipal specifications, and transportation electrical materials
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and contract documents
Proficiency with estimating software, digital takeoff tools, and Microsoft Office applications
Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple bids, deadlines, and technical requirements simultaneously
