Responsibilities

Works under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or a Project Supervisor. Work products are reviewed prior to submission; however, often develops these products with minimal direct supervision other than written guidelines
In addition to functions performed by Paralegals, described below, performs moderately complex legal research; synopsizes transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use; reviews case related materials and, for example, identifies potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation; writes preliminary drafts of simple legal memoranda and correspondence. Contact mostly with other Contractor staff, but occasional contact with trial staff may be required
In addition to the responsibilities above:
Trial prep:
Reviewing medical records and deposition transcripts
Coordinating and assisting with printing of exhibits, transcripts, and court submissions
Assisting with exhibits
Pulling docs from Relativity
Labeling with exhibit stickers
Loading to Trial Director or a similar program
Maintaining spreadsheets
Printing and creating both binders and manilla folders for Court
Producing exhibits to Plaintiffs via JEFS/Box.com
Retrieving Plaintiffs’ exhibits, saving to T-drive, and logging for [CLIENT] team
Assisting with demonstratives
Making travel arrangements, including booking hotels and war room
Trial:
Traveling to Hawaii for some of the fast-track or more full-blown trials
Projecting exhibits via trial director and courtroom AV system
Assisting with and escorting U.S. witnesses to/from the courtroom
Shipping binders, printers, supplies, etc
Prepping daily binders for judge and opposing counsel
Printing copies of briefs, objections, and other items on site for submission to the Court
Settlement-related tasks:
Reviewing and tracking incoming settlement acceptances (we have a system in place)
Identifying deficiencies in settlement responses in accordance with team-provided guidelines
Reconciling variations in responses from opposing counsel and plaintiffs
Tracking statistics to provide to [CLIENT] Division leadership
Other case-related tasks:
Preparing discovery for production in other ongoing [CLIENT] litigation
Requesting records from Plaintiffs’ medical providers, employers, and schools and identifying deficiencies
Coordinating deposition, hearing, and trial needs and obtaining approval from [CLIENT] leadership as necessary

Required

At least two years of litigation paralegal experience or project experience (as related to the task order) trial experience very helpful
Experience (1+) in automated litigation support
Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw
Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems
Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court system, legal research procedures, and legal research resources
Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources
Public Trust Clearance required (current or recent public trust through federal contract employment)
Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important
Bachelor's Degree or relevant experience

Preferred

Trial experience very helpful
Candidates eligible for reciprocity (e.g. currently cleared with a T2 Public Trust or above, or recently cleared as a contractor/fed)
