Responsibilities

Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; interviewing, hiring, and orienting new Assistants; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development
Collaborate with the Executive Director and Executive Leadership Team to set a strategic vision and action plan for talent at all levels of the organization, prioritizing L’Arche’s commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
Participate in decisions made at the executive level about strategic priorities and planning, ensuring talent management is fully integrated within the organization
In partnership with the Director of Care, support House Managers to become skilled supervisors, providing them with learning tools and strategies for the growth and development of their teams
Collaborates with House Managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
Coordinate and conduct the full life cycle of recruitment, including all sourcing, screening calls, interviews, and employment offers
Continuously develop hiring systems to fairly assess candidates
Utilize data collection for improving recruitment strategies
Actively promote L’Arche’s unique community and culture as a meaningful place to work, building our employer brand with a diverse pool of both active and passive jobseekers, including developing strong partnerships with universities and other sources of prospective employees
Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications
Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs
Manage employee benefits processes
Increase retention rates of employees through accountability in the orientation process
Have a gauge on the overall employee experience through presence in the homes, at formations, and at community events
Conduct Assistant surveys, using data to improve Assistant support and retention
Ensure annual development plans are in place and implemented for all employees, focused on both immediate and longer-term organizational needs (both training on technical skill and stretch assignments for growth and assessment)
Ensure talent development efforts are implemented equitably with no difference across race or other forms of identity
Focus on employee engagement and professional development at the intersection of career aspirations and potential future role opportunities across the organization
Maintains employee personnel records
Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff or resources
Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
Conducts exit interviews and recommends corrective action if necessary
Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
Own special projects, as needed, to identify and source the right technologies to support our initiatives

Required

Experience in the human services field (though not necessarily Human Resources)
