Responsibilities
Drives accurate and compliant financial reporting by interpreting accounting guidance, resolving complex transactions, and partnering closely with auditors, tax advisors, and finance leadership
Oversees all technical accounting and complex accounting matters, including revenue recognition, purchase accounting, equity compensation, consolidation, capitalized software, and accounting policy development
Oversees the preparation of annual tax returns and liaises with tax advisors on technical tax interpretations
Leads the accounting function, overseeing the revenue, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and disbursements functions
Develops and implements practices to safeguard the assets of the enterprise and to properly reflect its financial results
Directs the monthly and annual closing processes with accuracy and timeliness
Leads and manages annual independent financial audit process and relationships with external auditors
Serves as key point of contact with the external audit firm to ensure timely and efficient completion of all reviews and audits
Ensures compliance and adherence to GAAP accounting standards, internal controls, accounting policies, and other applicable requirements, rules and laws
Partners with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and department leadership on budgeting, forecasting, performance analysis, and cost controls
Provides financial insights and recommendations to support strategic planning and operational decision-making
Drives optimization of accounting systems and automation tools, including financial integrations
Implements scalable systems, controls, and processes to support future growth and complexity, and to optimize the accounting department
Maintains an effective enterprise-wide system of internal controls to ensure the financial integrity of reported results for the business
Champions continuous enterprise-wide process improvements and standardization regarding financial practices
Partners with private equity sponsor to deliver on key value-creation initiatives and reporting requirements
Participates in financial due diligence, leading acquisition accounting and post-close business and systems integration of new entities
Establishes scalable accounting processes that accommodate growth through acquisition and organic expansion
Supports merger-related financial integration and coordination of accounting policies
Prepares the accounting department for the private equity sponsor’s exit, which may include an initial public offering
Monitors and manages liquidity, and collaborates with the CFO and FP&A on financial forecasting and treasury planning
Oversees treasury platform and cash management process, partnering with key banking partnerships
Serves as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on financial accounting, financial reporting, accounting strategy, risk management, and business integration
Sets the strategic direction for the development and deployment of financial and reporting processes that ensure compliance with GAAP and risk mitigation
Provides strategic financial insights to support decision-making and operational excellence
Collaborates with the CFO on financial strategy, capital structure, and growth initiatives (e.g., acquisitions, dispositions, financing)
Partners with FP&A to enhance financial forecasting, reporting, and business analytics capabilities
Serves as an enterprise-wide strategic financial partner
Hires, trains, mentors, develops, and manages a high-performance and high-potential accounting team
Leads a team of professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and service
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in public or corporate accounting
Experience in PE-backed environments with a focus on elevating accounting teams and organizational prudence. SOX-readiness experience a plus
Demonstrated success working with executive teams and investors/board stakeholders
Proven experience managing and developing high-performing teams
Proven experience managing large-scale initiatives
Demonstrated success in strategic planning and execution
Exceptional verbal, written, interpersonal, listening, and presentation communication skills, with the ability to translate financial insights into actionable strategies
Polished and professional demeanor
