Director, Catastrophe Risk & Exposure Management
Hanover is a technology-enabled specialty insurance carrier partnering with underwriting programs across a growing property & specialty portfolio. The role focuses on portfolio catastrophe risk management, including cat modeling governance, accumulation management, and exposure monitoring.

Responsibilities
Lead the catastrophe risk management framework: risk appetite, guidelines, governance, and monitoring
Design and maintain accumulation controls (by peril/region/LOB) and exposure management standards
Run portfolio monitoring: reporting, dashboards, stress tests, scenario analyses, and management updates
Own catastrophe modeling standards and best practices (assumptions, validation, quality control)
Partner with Underwriting and Actuarial on program reviews, cat load, and portfolio optimization
Support Reinsurance with cat analytics to inform treaty structure and strategy
Build/adapt analytics and reporting tools as needed (platform outputs + Excel; Python/R a plus)
Qualification
Required
8+ years in catastrophe modeling / exposure management (carrier, reinsurer, broker, MGA/program, or modeling firm)
Deep hands-on experience with RMS and/or AIR (CoreLogic also welcome)
Proven ownership of accumulation management and aggregate exposure reporting (not just account-level modeling)
Strong understanding of property cat risk and how cat impacts underwriting, pricing, and reinsurance
Clear communicator who can translate technical outputs into portfolio decisions
Preferred
Python/R, GIS/spatial tools, or building lightweight dashboards
Specialty/program insurance experience and partner-facing advisory work
CPCU/ARM (or similar) and/or advanced degree
