Responsibilities
Develop and implement comprehensive media relations strategies to increase visibility and public engagement
Serve as the primary media contact and spokesperson for the organization
Represents the organization handling media interviews and speaking engagements unless fitting for President, Vice President, or Executive Directors to be interviewed
Cultivate and maintain relationships with journalists, bloggers, influencers, and media outlets
Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and op-eds
Pitch compelling stories and secure press coverage for events, programs, and impact initiatives
Manage media-related aspects of crisis communications in coordination with leadership
Prepare talking points, press kits, and media training for spokespeople and leadership
Collaborate with the social media or marketing team to align messaging
Qualification
Required
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Strong media contacts and proven track record of securing earned media
Ability to distill complex ideas into compelling, accessible messaging
Preferred
1+ years of experience in media relations, public relations, or communications preferred, but not required
Experience working in mission-driven or nonprofit settings is highly desirable
Proficiency in media monitoring tools, press distribution platforms, and content management systems
