Director of Business Development & Executive Director of Arkansas Valley Health Foundation
Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center (AVRMC) is located in La Junta, Colorado, and is seeking a Director of Business Development and Executive Director of the Arkansas Valley Health Foundation. The role involves developing and implementing business development strategies, enhancing community relations, and overseeing foundation operations and fundraising initiatives.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement business development strategies to support hospital growth, service line expansion, and long-term sustainability
Identify and evaluate new service opportunities, partnerships, and affiliations aligned with community health needs
Collaborate with executive leadership and department directors to assess market trends, patient demand, and referral opportunities
Support provider recruitment and retention efforts through community engagement and relationship-building
Strengthen relationships with regional healthcare systems, payers, employers, and community organizations
Represent the hospital at community events, meetings, and regional forums to enhance visibility and reputation
Assist with strategic planning initiatives and special projects as assigned by the Senior Leadership Team
Must work well in a team atmosphere, cohesively with the leadership team and staff of Hospital
Ongoing and consistent communication with the CEO required
Act as a visible leader and spokesperson for both the hospital and foundation within the community
Build and maintain strong relationships with civic organizations, local governments, businesses, and community stakeholders
Support community health initiatives and outreach efforts that align with hospital and foundation missions
Collaborate with marketing and communications staff to promote hospital services and philanthropic initiatives
Plans and implements marketing strategies for hospital programs and services
Serves as a resource for the other departments regarding research, development and implementation of marketing and public relations efforts
Develops market research tools to identify community needs, perception and habits
Develops monitoring systems to measure the success of marketing plans, reporting the results to senior management so decisions can be made to modify, abort, or create new programs
Researches and designs up-to-date, accurate and professional materials such as brochures, flyers, logos and specialty items, invitations, etc., and publishes and distributes within approved budget
Provides marketing support to physicians as directed, through media, advertising, and promotional materials, practice enhancement and special events
Develops an on-going media relations program and manages the publicity function for the hospital, its services and affiliated organizations while serving as Patient Information Officer and spokesperson for the hospital
Generates news releases, Public Service Announcements, advertisements, feature stories and story ideas on the hospital and its services
Drafts and recommends public statement regarding public issues of interest to the hospital
Promotes projects, events, and education classes for the community on health-related subjects
Manages the website and all social media platforms for the organization including but not limited to: Facebook, LinkedIn, etc
Provide leadership and direction for all foundation operations, fundraising initiatives, and donor stewardship activities
Develop and execute annual and long-term fundraising plans, including major gifts, annual giving, events, grants, planned giving, and sponsorships
Cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors, corporate partners, and foundations
Serve as the primary liaison to the Foundation Board of Directors, including meeting preparation, reporting, and strategic guidance
Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and reporting requirements applicable to nonprofit foundations
Oversee foundation budgeting, financial reporting, and fund management in coordination with hospital finance leadership
Promote philanthropic priorities aligned with hospital strategic goals, capital projects, equipment needs, and patient programs
Coordinate donor recognition and communication efforts, including campaigns, newsletters, and community outreach
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in related field required (Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or related field)
Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in business development, healthcare administration, fundraising, or nonprofit management
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality while working with confidential matters daily
Must possess the ability to function efficiently by working independently, in group settings and collaborating with various levels of leadership
Ability to provide a positive relations atmosphere
Verbal and written English communication skills a must
Requires high level of integrity and detail-oriented
Problem solving – the individual identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully
Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal funding sources and the ability to locate potential sources for funding
Preferred
Master's degree preferred
Five years of experience in business development preferred
Experience in a healthcare, hospital, or rural healthcare setting strongly preferred
Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor relations, or business growth initiatives
Experience working with or reporting to a Board of Directors
Additional languages preferred
