Responsibilities
Participate in the development of project design concepts, criteria, and process alternatives for municipal water treatment plants, wastewater treatment facilities, lift stations, force mains, transmission mains, and related infrastructure
Perform and oversee process engineering evaluations, including treatment technology selection, hydraulic and process modeling, capacity analysis, and lifecycle cost comparisons
Analyze complex design and process problems requiring the development of new or improved engineering techniques, procedures, or design standards
Make recommendations on project staffing, technical approach, and scope definition for water and wastewater projects
Provide technical review and guidance on plans, specifications, reports, calculations, and cost estimates
Consult with construction personnel regarding design constructability, sequencing, and operational considerations, particularly for active facilities and phased construction
Serve as technical lead or resident engineer during construction, reviewing contractor submittals, schedules, pay applications, and change orders for compliance with design intent and regulatory requirements
Monitor project progress for technical accuracy, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), schedule adherence, and budget compliance
Prepare and finalize planning documents, including preliminary engineering reports, facility plans, technical memoranda, and regulatory submittals
Provide technical input for proposals, scope development, and client presentations, engaging with project managers and business development teams
Represent assigned projects at client meetings, public meetings, and technical conferences
Plan, organize, and supervise design engineering activities for large, complex projects requiring integration of multiple disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and process) or multiple concurrent water/wastewater projects
Provide direction, mentoring, and technical oversight to Engineers I–IV, CADD designers, and other technical staff
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program
Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Oklahoma or ability to obtain Oklahoma licensure by reciprocity)
5–8 years of progressively responsible engineering experience, with a significant portion dedicated to municipal water and wastewater projects, including: Water treatment facilities (groundwater and/or surface water), Wastewater treatment facilities and collection systems, Lift stations, force mains, and pump station design, Water distribution and wastewater conveyance systems
Demonstrated experience with water and wastewater process engineering, including treatment unit processes, hydraulic profiles, pumping systems, and operational considerations
Working knowledge of state and federal regulatory requirements, including permitting and compliance considerations applicable to municipal water and wastewater infrastructure in Oklahoma
Proven proficiency with engineering software and design tools, including hydraulic and process modeling, and an understanding of system capabilities and limitations across diverse engineering assignments
