Vice President of Sales - Surgical Stapling
Responsibilities
Own US revenue performance with responsibility for outsized growth and meaningful gross margin expansion
Drive disciplined pricing, product mix, and contract strategies to improve contribution margin and EBITDA
Deliver accurate forecasting, pipeline rigor, and predictable execution consistent with PE expectations
Lead and optimize our client’s US sales channels, including: Direct hospital and health system sales, IDN and GPO-driven selling environments, Distributor and hybrid channel models, where appropriate
Ensure clear channel strategy, territory design, and role clarity to maximize coverage and productivity
Expand penetration within priority accounts, VACs, and academic medical centers
Recruit, develop, and lead a national sales organization including Regional Directors, Area Managers, and field representatives
Establish a high-accountability, performance-driven culture with clear metrics, coaching, and consequences
Design and implement compensation plans that reward top performers and align with margin and growth objectives
Drive surgeon adoption and conversion in competitive environments dominated by large strategic OEMs
Build and leverage KOL and surgeon champion relationships to accelerate market pull-through
Lead new product launches with disciplined execution and rapid market uptake
Partner closely with the CEO and PE sponsors on commercial strategy, KPIs, and value creation initiatives
Provide clear, data-driven reporting on revenue, margins, productivity, and pipeline health
Support strategic initiatives including market expansion, channel optimization, and potential M&A integration
Implement best-in-class sales processes, CRM discipline, and analytics
Partner with Marketing, Clinical, Operations, and R&D to ensure commercial readiness and customer feedback integration
Ensure full compliance with regulatory, legal, and ethical standards
Qualification
Required
15+ years of progressive medical device sales leadership experience
Demonstrated success as a consistent top performer with a history of beating plan
Proven ability to scale US sales teams in PE-backed or high-growth environments
Deep experience selling surgical technologies into hospitals and health systems
Deep experience selling surgical technologies into IDNs and GPO-aligned accounts
Deep experience selling surgical technologies into competitive, price-pressured markets
