Associate Dean of Finance and Business Services

The University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking an Associate Dean of Finance and Business Services for the College of Nursing. This leadership position is responsible for the strategic financial direction of the college and acts as the senior advisor to the Dean on financial matters, ensuring effective budgetary and fiscal operations.

Responsibilities

Serve as the senior fiscal leader of the CU College of Nursing
Serve as a senior advisor to the Dean on financial matters
Serve as a member of campus-wide financial committee(s) to provide insight and advice on campus-wide matters while also representing the College of Nursing
Investigate and identify internal and external budgeting and financial information needs
Approve all high-level documents and reports relating to fiscal and budget information for the college
Ensures consistent oversight, analysis, and forecasting of all fiscal and budgetary aspects within the college’s clinical, research, and education enterprise
Formulate financial plans for the college's various programs and projects. Plans include revenue and expenditure projections, as well as cash flow requirements
Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights and visual reports for leadership and non-financial constituents
Serve as a liaison between the College/Dean and the campus, University, and other external constituencies regarding financial operations
Oversee and establish the objectives, scope of service, and performance benchmarks for the Finance and Budget unit
Ensure the college is in compliance with all relevant campus, University, and state fiscal policies and procedures
Provide leadership and creative approaches to other members of the senior administrative team for the effective utilization of financial resources to accomplish strategic objectives
Oversight of annual budget development and long-term financial planning, including analysis of historical financial data and projecting future financial performance, consistent with the college’s mission, goals, and applicable policies
Develop, recommend, and implement organizational policies relevant to financial management and finance operations
Strategically manage and evaluate the College’s financial resources, ensuring that funds are stewarded appropriately, allocated and deployed to allow for maximum benefit; with an entrepreneurial focus, develop and explore new and/or unidentified avenues for potential sources of revenue
Employ a proactive, future-based approach to financial planning, ensuring the College is strategically positioned to meet opportunities and challenges with emerging technologies and a rapidly evolving economic environment
Serve as a member of the Dean’s Executive Council (leadership team). Provide advice and counsel to the college’s faculty leadership, directors, and assistant/associate deans regarding all financial matters

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
Ten (10) years of financial management experience, including simultaneous oversight of multiple fiscal operations such as budgeting, grant/contract administration, reporting/analysis, procurement, and/or similar functions
Three (3) years of experience in a senior leadership role, exercising strategic financial oversight and collaborating with executive leadership to ensure the long-term fiscal well-being of a dynamic, complex organization
Four (4) years of prior supervisory experience of professional positions
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire

Preferred

Financial experience in an institution of higher education and/or in an academic health center
Experience working with clinical revenue streams and systems
Experience converting complex financial data into clear, actionable insights and visual reports for constituents
