Associate Underwriter, Casualty

Responsibilities

Production and underwriting of new and renewal account business of the following classes: Construction, Products, Liquor Liability, Habitational, Amusements, and OL&T
Compliance with underwriting documentation rules and guidelines
Maintain an acceptable underwriting profit
Adherence to Admiral underwriting guidelines and referral compliance
Development and maintenance of key broker/agent relationships
Deliver timely and accurate quotes and endorsements to brokers, ensuring responsive and reliable service
Participates in all internal company training and continuing education
Attends strategic marketing calls to key brokers
Other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree required
Minimum of 1 year of experience underwriting Commercial Lines, with proficiency handling complex and high-hazard risks
Ability to understand and execute priorities including underwriting appetite, limit management and mix of business, broker strategy, and pricing/rate strategy
Strong organization skills
Ability to manage deadlines effectively
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Technical proficiency is required

Preferred

Completed coursework toward a Risk Management and Insurance Degree a plus
Applicable coursework toward attainment of a CPCU or other related Insurance Designation(s) preferred
Strong knowledge of the E&S marketplace
In-depth knowledge of commercial E&S Casualty strongly preferred
