Development Manager - Part Time
The Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center (APALRC) is a non-profit legal services organization dedicated to advancing the legal and civil rights of Asian Pacific Islanders. The Development Manager will work closely with the executive director to increase operational capacity by building revenue through securing grants, individual donations, and major gifts.
Responsibilities
Research and identify local and federal grants that match the APALRC’s mission and priorities
Conduct research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for foundation and corporate grants for both restricted and unrestricted funds
Coordinate with APALRC staff to identify operational requirements and needs, and synthesize the information into tangible goals and objectives for grant writing
Draft and submit grant proposals, renewals, and reports. Track and manage grant reporting deadlines, and renewals
Develop, cultivate and maintain relationships with program officers, grant managers, and others involved in the grants process
Identify, solicit and cultivate individual, corporate, and foundation donors
Draft donor communications and materials, such as newsletters, annual reports, emails, social media posts, other fundraising materials, and gift acknowledgments
Develop digital fundraising strategies
Develop and implement fundraising events and campaigns, including the APALRC’s annual fundraising event, Giving Tuesday, and United Way’s Do More 24. Events may require managing event sponsorship, logistical coordination and vendor management
Create printed and online event materials such as invitations, programs, flyers, registration pages, etc. and coordinate printing and delivery
Maintain donor records and manage donor databases
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Demonstrated ability in securing major grants and gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations and other private funding sources
Experience in managing state, local, or federal grants
Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with prospective donors and/or volunteers in a wide range of roles
Attention to details and excellent time management abilities
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to think and act strategically, tactically and creatively
Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to present effectively to large and small groups
Ability to work in-person in the Washington, DC office at least one (1) day a week and to work some evenings
Preferred
Experience and expertise in working with a non-profit focused on the low-income immigrant community
Proficiency with donor management applications, Google docs, and social media platforms
Knowledge of grant/donor management databases
