Manufacturing Engineer / NC Programmer
Caterpillar Inc. is a global team dedicated to building stronger, sustainable communities. They are seeking a skilled NC Programmer to join their Lafayette Large Engine Facility, where the candidate will be responsible for using NX CAD/CAM software and other tools to develop and customize machine simulations.

Responsibilities
Proficiency in NX CAD/CAM version 2000 or greater
Adeptness in NX Post Builder (Siemens, Fanuc, DMG, and Mazak controls)
Experience with Vericut 9.0 or greater
Knowledge to build NC control
Develop machine kinematics
Import solid model tools to the library
Ability to customize machine simulations
In-depth knowledge of Teamcenter and the Machine Resource Library
Familiarity with Creo version 7 or greater
Well-versed in Siemens, Fanuc, DMG, and Mazak G&M code
Experience with HMC, Gantry (head changer), and multi-axis machining centers
Mill turn experience
Strong print reading skills, including understanding basic GD&T
Advanced knowledge of tool application
Ability to interpret tools, fixture, and NC layout drawings
Capability to calculate cutting feed and speeds by referencing manufacturers' recommendations
Skill in deciphering NC code written by a machine tool supplier and converting that code to NX CAD/CAM
Understanding of Renishaw probing cycles
Write probe cycles for Fanuc and Siemens controls using Renishaw Inspection Plus for part sensing and applying block skip functions
Locating features and applying offsets
Probe various features and perform calculations
Qualification
Required

Be a team player willing to work with various departments of the Caterpillar manufacturing team
Four-year Engineering degree (Mechanical or Industrial) or relevant experience is desired
Extensive Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment
Working Knowledge of the decision-making process; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance
Working Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes
Working Knowledge of the electrical, mechanical and logistics equipment used in manufacturing; ability to safely operate, maintain, update and store them
Extensive Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process
Extensive knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site
Extensive Knowledge of organizational standards, procedures and policies in manufacturing activities; ability to plan, guide, and monitor manufacturing processes for compliance
Extensive Knowledge of manufacturing problem management processes, methodologies and techniques; ability to use a disciplined approach to bringing that problem to a successful resolution
