Software Technical Writer

Blood Bank Computer Systems, Inc. (BBCS) develops and supports the ForLife™ Biologics Platform, a comprehensive software solution for blood banks and biologics organizations. They are seeking a Software Technical Writer to create and maintain documentation for their regulated and non-regulated software products, ensuring compliance with FDA regulations and internal quality standards.

Responsibilities

Create, maintain, and control documentation for regulated and non-regulated software products, including design specs, technical documentation, user manuals, release notes, and labeling
Partner with software development teams throughout the SDLC, actively participating in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, refinement, and reviews
Ensure all documentation complies with FDA regulations, internal Quality System requirements, and BBCS SOPs
Manage documentation changes through formal change control processes aligned with product releases
Track documentation work and dependencies using Jira
Publish and manage documentation in Confluence, ensuring version control, review workflows, and accessibility
Continuously improve documentation templates, workflows, and standards to support scalability and consistency
Leverage AI-assisted authoring and review tools to streamline documentation while maintaining compliance and document control

Required

Exceptional written communication skills with strong attention to detail
Experience creating structured technical documentation
Proficiency with documentation and collaboration tools such as Confluence and MS Word
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, Agile environment
Applicants must be located in one of the following states: Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, Washington or Wyoming and must not require sponsorship

Preferred

Experience documenting software from both technical and user perspectives
Familiarity with FDA-regulated environments (medical device, healthcare software, or SaaS)
Experience with document control, change management, and quality systems
Working knowledge of Jira
Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Engineering, QA, Product, and Customer teams
Experience using AI tools to enhance documentation quality and efficiency
BA/BS in Technical Writing, English, Communications, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience
