System Administrator II
University of Nebraska Medical Center is seeking a System Administrator II to ensure the reliable operation of computer servers and their application software. The role involves maintaining uptime, performance, and security of the systems while complying with applicable policies, and may require some duties outside regular office hours.

Ensures that the uptime, performance, resources, and security of those computers meets the needs of the users, while complying with applicable policies
Expected to perform some essential IT duties outside regular office hours if needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Computer Science or related field (Will consider eight years related education/experience)
4 years of UNIX systems administration, as a central and daily focus, with emphasis on shell or Python scripting. (Will consider eight years related education/experience)
No required license
Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Outlook, Not Applicable
Sudo, SSH, sftp
Able to perform some job functions in situations where Internet connectivity is not available; Able to work independently
Thorough understanding of UNIX access controls and process model; SSH and SFTP with public key authentication
Revision control workflows (git, subversion, etc.)
Bourne shell (sh, bash, zsh) scripting and using standard UNIX utilities to build pipelines for ad-hoc tasks
Preferred
Bachelor's degree
AWS Training
Working experience with UNMC research IT infrastructure, working with UNMC research community on providing technical solutions
Windows Server administration; hypervisor administration; relational database administration; containerization; basic web application development
Yes preferred license
AWS training and certification
Microsoft Outlook
VMware Workstation, VirtualBox or virt-manager; VMware vCenter or similar; Rsync, Rclone, Globus; vsCode, Xcode, Visual Studio or other IDE; Jupyter Notebook; git, subversion
Windows Server administration; Web application and database deployments in Linux platforms. Active Directory and management of Windows networks
Data transfer over networks; Virtualization with VMware/Proxmox, Microsoft Hyper-V; SQL; Basic database administration of databases such as Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server; Network file systems including NFS, SMB/CIFS; Basic application development using computer languages such as PHP, Python, Perl, C, C++
Basic web development using technologies such as HTML5, CSS, PHP, Python
