Waste Engineer
Naval Nuclear Laboratory is dedicated to ensuring the safety and reliability of the nation's naval nuclear reactors. They are seeking a Waste Engineer to oversee waste management, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and support the development of waste training programs.

Responsibilities
Perform field inspections and provide waste management support/oversight
Conduct regulatory required report writing and regulatory interpretation
Administer waste training programs for non-radiological and radiological waste management
Ensure Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) compliance with operational, design, regulatory and Program requirements
Perform technical work document reviews, engineering evaluations, or analyses to support assigned tasks
Provide support, independent oversight and assessment of Knolls Laboratory, subcontractor, and vendor facility operations
Conduct material evaluations, design reviews, and development of engineering methods
Prepare and maintain records and reports to meet regulatory and Program requirements
Evaluate and assess site performance and perform surveillances
Clarify and implement regulatory requirements and prepare technical work procedures
Identify improvements to existing processes
Lead or provide support for inspections and interface with outside regulatory agencies
Qualification
Required
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; or Currently an Intermediate Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company
All candidates must be U.S. citizens
Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter
FMP is a government contractor and maintains a drug free workplace and workforce
All candidates must be able to pass a drug test in compliance with FMP company policy and 10 CFR 707
Preferred
Experience with regulatory compliance (waste and/or radiological)
Strong technical writing, analytical skills, and communication skills
