Responsibilities
Analyze area inspection requirements and develop work schedules based on available resources and priorities
Coordinate the sequence of work and troubleshoot problems, developing plans to resolve issues effectively
Assist inspectors with drawing and specification interpretation, problem identification, and investigation skills
Verify that all necessary paperwork, including manufacturing orders and specifications, is complete, accurate, and up to date
Process and monitor non-conforming parts and assemblies, ensuring proper documentation and identification of rejection numbers
Monitor the routing of parts and assemblies to appropriate areas, such as Material Review Segregation Areas (MRSA) and rework shops
Collaborate with internal and external organizations to provide clarification and additional information as needed
Perform process control checks on magnetic particle and penetrant chemicals and equipment to ensure compliance with specifications
Assist in submitting magnetic particle technique sheets for approval prior to first part inspection
Move parts to magnetic particle and penetrant inspection equipment using appropriate material handling equipment
Apply magnetic fields and fluorescent particle baths to parts, inspecting for defects under UV light as per specifications
Apply penetrant to parts using various methods, processing through the system and inspecting for defects under UV light
Document discrepancies on non-conformance reports and withhold parts as required, citing specific drawing or specification requirements
Secure non-conforming items in designated areas to maintain control and traceability
Perform re-inspections of reworked parts per engineering disposition, communicating with relevant inspection groups as needed
Indicate Quality Assurance (QA) acceptance on paperwork and process documentation according to quality procedures
Verify certifications of tools and equipment, ensuring they are current and compliant with standards
Handle and monitor the use and disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations
Consult with management and other departments on process or job-related issues as required
Communicate with team leaders and supervisors to provide status updates and coordinate efforts across shifts
Set up, adjust, and operate magnetic particle and penetrant inspection equipment, making acceptance or rejection decisions based on findings
Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to evaluate and improve build processes and defect reduction initiatives
Perform audits and surveillance of manufacturing and quality assurance processes to ensure compliance with specifications
Provide peer-to-peer training to assist other employees in procedures, equipment use, and standards interpretation
Qualification
Required
Magnetic Particle or Dye Penetrant Certification OR equivalent on the job training hours completed for a Level II American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Certification
Ability to walk constantly throughout the workday; stand 6-8 hours per day; climb or work from stairs/steps up to 8 hours per day; climb ladders; bend and twist frequently up to six hours per day; squat and kneel
Preferred
Previously or currently hold a NDT Level II Magnetic or Penetrant Certification
NDI (non-destructive inspection) or NDT (non-destructive test) experience
