Health Informatics Manager
The University of Houston is seeking a Health Informatics Manager to manage secure data access pathways and compliance while executing analytic models across multiple research projects. The role involves coordinating complex data acquisitions, managing data governance processes, and ensuring that faculty and research teams have access to accurate datasets.
Responsibilities
Performs rigorous statistical analyses to inform study design and interpretation
Collects, cleans, and organizes clinical and social determinants of health (SDOH) data from administrative, clinical, patient-reported outcomes, and approved datasets using SAS and other statistical software
Collaborates with IT teams to maintain HIPAA-compliant data environments and pipelines for Level-1 sensitive data
Develops workflows for integrating clinical metrics (diagnoses, labs, medications) and social data; maintains metadata, data dictionaries, and reproducible documentation
Generates validated reports and dashboards (e.g., Power BI) for investigators and leadership to support research progress, compliance, and operational decisions
Oversees access logs, user compliance, and certification renewals (HIPAA, CITI, Good Clinical Practice); ensures adherence to IRB protocols and institutional data use policies
Mentors junior staff in advanced data analytics, compliance, and health informatics best practices
Qualification
Required
Master's degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed
Minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience
Professional licensing certification or registration directly related to the job
