Capstone On-Campus Management (COCM) is focused on managing housing communities affiliated with universities. They are seeking a Resident Assistant (RA) who will support the personal and academic success of residents, maintain community engagement, and ensure safety and compliance within the residence hall.

Responsibilities

Identify your residents and know where they live within the first three weeks of the semester
Notify supervisor of roommate conflicts immediately and assist with roommate mediation sessions/ contracts
Be available to residents and maintain high level of visibility in the buildings and community
Encourage residents to take responsibility for incidents and events in the community
Maintain a positive building community through open communication and programming
Identify and assist residents with personal, academic, wellness, or other special issues
Respond and report behavior that is inappropriate / discriminatory / harassing in nature (racial, ethnic, religious, ability, gender, and/or sexual identity)
Develop a personal relationship with residents on your floor and the residence hall community
Show interest and concern for each resident daily, encouraging involvement on the floor, in the residence hall community and within Highline College campus-wide activities
Refer students experiencing issues requiring counseling support to appropriate resources
Acquaint students with facilities and services on the campus
Act as a communication link between students and Campus View Student Housing staff
Serve as a leader and role model
Abide by all policies and procedures of the building and the college
Confront policy violations and document incidents appropriately. Report all violations of policy witnessed/confronted to the Resident Director
Interpret and enforce community and institution’s regulations and policies
Learn and implement building-wide emergency response procedures
Complete and submit Incident Reports as well as, duty logs following each duty shift
Respond to situations needing attention
Observe residents who identify emotional, relationship, psychological, academic or social problems. Intervene appropriately or report as needed
Coordinate and complete social or educational programs once a month which follows programming curriculum
Encourage and involve residents to develop and implement programs
Complete and submit a Program Proposal and flyer for program by given deadline
Evaluate and complete Program Evaluation within 24 hours of program completion
Assist with room condition assessments prior to Move-In and after Move-Out each semester
Assist with the opening and closing of the buildings
Conduct health, safety and maintenance inspections each semester and follow-up accordingly
Report maintenance concerns for your floor and the buildings
Complete other facility management responsibilities as assigned
Participate in training and administrative tasks which occur prior to classes beginning and after classes end
Maintain confidentiality at all time
Perform administrative duties in a thorough and timely manner, including, but not limited to incident reports, occupancy checks each semester, damage billing, surveys, and reporting of maintenance issues
Participate in RA selection, Move-in/Move-out, RA Training, any Open Houses, Homecoming and other events as assigned
Attend all in-services, meetings, and events as assigned. This will generally include bi-weekly meeting with supervisor and weekly staff meetings
Staff coverage/duty will be required during academic calendar break periods (holidays and extended time)
Participate in an on-call duty rotation with RA staff after business hours and on weekends (requires walking through all buildings and holding/responding to a duty cell phone overnight)
RAs can expect to be on call 2-5 evenings per week, including weekends, holidays and break periods
RAs should expect to be scheduled between 4-6 days, total, during the December and Spring Break periods
RAs will assist in office coverage during their on-call evenings. Additional meetings and training occur during the week
Time off or absence from the building should be kept to a minimum in order to maintain a presence on the floor and around the residents
RAs must be present on campus for dates including training, move in and out, quarter breaks, turn, holidays and weekends
Other on campus employment is not permitted. External employment is highly discouraged, and requires prior approval from the Residence Life Coordinator. External employment is not to exceed 20 hours per week
RAs can expect to receive training, ongoing professional development, and support from the Residence Life Coordinator rand other staff
RAs must know, support, and abide by the college and Campus View community policies and regulations pertaining to personal conduct as well as assist in conflict resolution with residents. Any RA who is found responsible for violations of College and/or housing policy and/or placed on disciplinary probation may be terminated from the position and in some cases, expelled from the building
The period of employment begins with training, August 8; and 2-3 days prior to the Winter, Spring, and Summer Quarter move-in dates

Maintain full-time enrollment and 'good standing' with Highline College
