Responsibilities
Create and improve manufacturing systems, from designing the layout of equipment to developing new fabrication processes
Install, test, troubleshoot, and repair manufacturing equipment and machinery to ensure it is running correctly and efficiently
Implement strategies like lean manufacturing and automation to reduce waste, lower costs, and increase output
Develop and implement quality control systems to ensure products meet all specifications and standards
Work with designers, production staff, and maintenance teams on new product introductions (NPIs) and ongoing production challenges
Gather and analyze production statistics to assess efficiency and identify opportunities for improvement
Reviews production tooling for damage and/or wear and develops necessary corrective action plans for refurbishment including utilization of inside and outside resources
Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods
Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes
Supports several specific customers including ITT Gould to ensure proper manufacturing methods are utilized
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field, such as industrial, manufacturing, or mechanical engineering
Proficiency with design software, process optimization techniques, knowledge of automation systems, and statistical analysis
A logical and practical approach to identifying and resolving complex issues
Strong communication, teamwork, project management, and leadership skills
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, work instructions, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Preferred
Membership in SME (Society of Manufacturing Engineers) desirable
