Responsibilities
Oversee all inventory accounting activities, including standard costing, reserves, monthly close, and timely reporting of COGS, purchase price variances, and overhead absorption
Manage and mentor staff responsible for inventory and cost accounting functions
Develop and maintain robust internal controls over inventory processes to ensure compliance with GAAP, SOX, and applicable FDA/ISO regulations
Coordinate with internal and external auditors, providing documentation and support during audits
Analyze complex financial data and KPIs (inventory turns, days on hand, obsolescence) to provide actionable insights for management
Prepare and present detailed financial analyses and reports to support strategic decision-making
Streamline and automate manual accounting processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and reporting
Define and administer cycle counting, physical inventory processes, and ERP system enhancements (SAP, Oracle, JDE)
Collaborate with supply chain, operations, and logistics teams to resolve inventory discrepancies and align processes
Advise as a subject matter expert on inventory accounting treatment, offering best practices and solutions
Qualification
Required
7-10 years of inventory accounting experience
Public, private, and combo experience
Highly analytical and detail-oriented
Excellent leadership skills
Excellent communication skills
Preferred
CPA preferred
