Responsibilities
Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility
Identifies patient health problems and prescribes treatment under the direction of a physician
Implements medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a Physician
Provides education to inmate/patient, healthcare staff, and correctional staff
Documents all healthcare contacts
Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills. Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications
Delegates to and supervises other team members as appropriate
Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices
Attends training and meetings as required
Qualification
Required
Graduate of an accredited college/university NP / PA program
Must possess current licenses or certifications in the state of employment
Maintains required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for physician assistants / Nurse Practitioner in the healthcare unit
Preferred
Experience in Correctional desired but not required
