Business Development Representative - Excess & Surplus Lines | Commercial Insurance
Insurance Recruiting Solutions is a growing E&S insurance organization looking for a Business Development Representative. This role focuses on building relationships with retail agents and wholesale brokers while gaining exposure to the E&S market and supporting business development efforts.
Responsibilities
Call on retail agents, wholesale brokers, and select producer partners to build awareness of the company’s E&S products and underwriting appetite
Travel to producer offices and industry events to develop relationships and identify small-to-mid-size commercial account opportunities
Partner closely with Underwriting and Marketing to communicate market feedback, submission quality insights, and product needs
Participate in industry conferences (e.g., WSIA), assisting with scheduled meetings, follow-ups, and relationship development activities
Represent the organization with professionalism, curiosity, energy, and a strong desire to learn
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree required (Business, Insurance, Marketing, Economics, or related field)
3–4 years of experience in commercial lines insurance; E&S exposure strongly preferred
Someone currently in underwriting, inside marketing, account management, or brokerage support who wants a more external role
Understanding of commercial insurance products and basic underwriting concepts
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Comfortable meeting new people and building professional relationships
Organized, curious, and proactive
Willingness to travel regularly
