Senior LevelThe University of Utah is seeking applications for an open-rank tenure-track or tenured faculty position in the area of Artificial Intelligence with a focus on Image Analysis and Computer Vision. The successful candidate will lead collaborative AI-driven research that bridges core computing disciplines and aims to foster interdisciplinary partnerships across the University and with external collaborators.

Responsibilities
Lead collaborative AI-driven research that spans foundational and applied computing
Bridge core computing disciplines such as computer vision, large-scale AI systems, and machine learning with high-impact applications
Foster interdisciplinary partnerships across the University and with external collaborators
Develop foundational AI methodologies and translate them into innovative applications in image-centric data analysis, AI-driven computational discovery, and interdisciplinary problem-solving
Contribute to novel AI-driven approaches for extracting, interpreting, reconstructing, and enhancing visual information
Engage in research that integrates imaging with other data modalities, physics-aware and hybrid modeling for imaging applications, and scalable AI for high-dimensional visual data
Qualification
Required
A PhD in computer science or a related field is required
Strong track record of developing foundational AI methodologies
History of extramural funding
Strong publication record in high-impact venues
Established research program
Vision for AI-driven image-centric computational research
Approach to instruction and mentorship, including strategies for engaging a diverse student body
Preferred
Candidates conducting high-impact, innovative research at the intersection of AI and imaging sciences
Experience in foundational and applied advances in machine learning for image analysis
Experience in multimodal AI integrating imaging with other data modalities
Experience in physics-aware and hybrid modeling for imaging applications
Experience in scalable AI for high-dimensional visual data
Experience in trustworthy AI for image-based decision-making
Experience in generative models for image understanding, reconstruction, and synthesis
