Responsibilities

Refine and Implement the Strategic Plan: Work effectively with volunteers, community leaders, and key staff, to refine the 2025/2026 strategic plan which addresses the needs of the communities served by the Y and includes defined organizational strategies, a clear implementation plan with deliverables, and measurable goals
Position the Y as a Vital Partner for Community Change: Serve as an ambassador for the YMCA’s mission, purpose, and vision within the community. Possess the ability to develop and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, while always upholding the highest standards and values of the Y. Ensure your Y is seen as a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community by connecting all people to their potential, purpose, and each other
Measure, Demonstrate and Communicate the Y’s Impact: Lead board and staff in sharing the Y’s impact through broad-based communication strategies. Report results and be positioned to take leadership in community initiatives. Be a spokesperson for the Y and lift-up the Y’s benefit to the community
Improve Operating Performance: Engage the board and appropriate staff to develop an annual tactical plan for identifying and achieving key goals and objectives towards operating with safe, relevant, and sustainable practices. Diversify revenue by expanding fee-based program offerings
Steward Fundraising Efforts: Develop and implement an annual fundraising plan that will establish the YMCA as a leading nonprofit organization within the community through the engagement of members, volunteers, staff, and donors. Identify the need for successful capital fundraising, while taking the organization to a new level of effectiveness and impact in annual giving and endowment
Fiscal Management: Use high-level financial analysis to forecast financial trends, growth, and stability, while consistently leading organization to balance or surplus operations by growing earned revenue and contributions and controlling costs. Quickly address issues that may arise, forecast future needs, and manage and direct the Y’s operations and activities. Empower and guide staff leaders to lead their departments to successful financial operation. Develop and implement stewardship strategies
Build and Lead Staff: Ensure a talent development system is in place and executed in an affirming, culturally competent and effective manner. Work towards recruiting, retaining, developing, and promoting staff that represent the diversity of the communities you serve. Encourage the team by creating a spirit of camaraderie, inclusion, and sense of mission and purpose. Create a learning organization to help staff achieve their highest potential

Required

Accredited 4-year college degree preferred with minimum five years prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable nonprofit organization or business
Proven successful track record in fiscal management for a complex organization
Demonstrated ability to develop and strengthen community relationships
Proven ability to develop new programs, review and enhance programs being offered and effective in broadening engagement in the community
Demonstrated excellent leadership and communication skills (written and verbal) as well as personal values aligned with the YMCA mission
Successful fundraising experience in annual campaigns, capital campaigns and endowment, with documented results
Direct experience supervising multiple levels of diverse staff
Personal values consistent with the YMCA mission of putting Christian principles into practice

Benefits

Health Plan: Y pays approximately 80% for individuals and 50% for families
Y Retirement Fund: 10% plan, with 7% paid by Y and 3% paid by the employee after the employee meets eligibility requirements.
Eligible to participate in a 403B savings account through the Y Retirement Fund
Life Insurance: $25,000 paid by Y
Vacation: Accrues at 2 weeks per year, up to a maximum of 4 weeks per year. Caps at 240 hours.
Sick leave: Accrues at 2 weeks per year. Caps at 480 hours.
Holidays: 12 paid holidays plus 1 personal day per year
