Responsibilities

Develop and steward a dynamic portfolio of 100 to 125 high-potential donors and prospects, prioritizing frequent, high-quality interactions such as meetings, lunches, gallery visits, and substantive conversations to advance relationships and philanthropic commitments
Build and sustain strong relationships with individuals in the portfolio, strategically positioning them for significant fundraising requests aligned with the Museum’s priority needs, with particular emphasis on major capital, programmatic, and general operations priorities
Strategically partner, as appropriate, with the Museum’s Trustees, Director and CEO, curators, and Development colleagues to coordinate and elevate cultivation and solicitation efforts

Work closely with curatorial, programmatic, and Development colleagues to design and execute strategic engagement opportunities and events that support donor cultivation and revenue generation
Partner with Development leadership to develop systems that track, assess, and strengthen cultivation and solicitation efforts, helping ensure progress toward departmental fundraising goals
Maintain strong relationships with donors and prospects through consistent personal, written, and digital stewardship
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree required, with a graduate degree preferred
A minimum of 10 years of fundraising experience, with demonstrated success working within cultural institutions
Proven ability to develop, manage, and deepen relationships with high-potential donors and prospects
Strong knowledge of art history and curiosity for a wide array of projects across the institution
A strong track record of closing five-, six-, and seven-figure philanthropic commitments
Extensive familiarity with New York's cultural, philanthropic, and social communities
Experience working with high-level donors and prospects
Demonstrated ability to operate as a motivated self-starter while also contributing effectively as part of a team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Flexibility to accommodate the varying schedules of donors and prospects; willingness to travel as needed
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
