Aeromechanical Engineer
SMA: The Program Lifecycle Company is seeking an Aeromechanical Engineer responsible for the design, testing, building, and improvement of unmanned aerial vehicles and their support equipment. The role involves using Solidworks for design, performing aerodynamic analysis, conducting simulations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
Use Solidworks to design and modify parts and assemblies
Create 2D drawings of parts and assemblies complete with bill of material (BOM) for internal or external fabrication and assembly
Perform aerodynamic analysis and calculations to inform the design and predict the behavior of aircraft
Develop and analyze mechanical systems for aircraft, including engines, airframes, and avionics
Conduct simulations, testing, and prototyping to validate designs and ensure they meet performance and safety requirements
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, software, and systems engineers, to integrate mechanical systems into larger aerospace systems
Perform risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for potential mechanical failures
Design and oversee the manufacturing and assembly processes of mechanical components, ensuring they meet quality and performance standards
Maintain accurate documentation of designs, processes, and test results
Qualification
Required
4-8 years of experience in aerospace or related field
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Solidworks Certified Professional in Mechanical Design (CSWP)
Use Solidworks to design and modify parts and assemblies
Create 2D drawings of parts and assemblies complete with bill of material (BOM) for internal or external fabrication and assembly
Perform aerodynamic analysis and calculations to inform the design and predict the behavior of aircraft
Develop and analyze mechanical systems for aircraft, including engines, airframes, and avionics
Conduct simulations, testing, and prototyping to validate designs and ensure they meet performance and safety requirements
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, software, and systems engineers, to integrate mechanical systems into larger aerospace systems

Maintain accurate documentation of designs, processes, and test results
Regular and reliable attendance on a full time basis (or in accordance with posted schedule)
Must be a US Citizen
Preferred
Master's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Experience working for a military contract and performing formal technical presentations such as a PDR, CDR, PRR
Experience with UAVs or RC aircraft
Experience in a rapid prototype environment
Experience with Star-CCM+ and XFLR
Needs to be able to pass a DoD security clearance, significant plus if you already have one! (DoD Top Secret)
