Utilities Associate Engineer I, II and Utilities Senior Engineer

City of Cocoa is seeking multiple positions for Utilities Associate Engineer I, II and Utilities Senior Engineer. The role involves performing various engineering activities including project management, design, and preparation/review of plans for public utilities construction and maintenance.

Responsibilities

Assists EDM in implementing specific city objectives for utilities construction and maintenance projects and managing work programs, project plans and specifications reviews
Performs hydraulic analysis, engineering calculations and engineering analysis of utilities projects
Manages and coordinates utility-related in-house projects, conducts analysis of water distribution system, wastewater collection system, and reclaimed water distribution systems using hydraulic software
Assists with coordination of construction and maintenance activities performed by private contractors and other utilities within the public right-of-way including pay applications validation, basic project accounting and funding, change order review and processing requests for information
Uses engineering principles to assist in the planning, permitting, design and layout of department projects and facilities
Collects and compiles project information as necessary for the continued development of the Utilities Department asset management data base
The majority of position duties are required to be performed on-site
Prepares written reports and maintains accurate records for projects for the EDM
Essential Employees may be required to work during an during a declared or undeclared emergency
Participation as a team member
Performs other related job duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering
Zero to four (0-4) years of engineering design or construction experience in the water or waste water field for Utilities Associate Engineer I
Four plus (4+) years of engineering design or construction experience in the water or waste water field for Utilities Associate Engineer II
Four (4+) years' experience of engineering experience for Utilities Senior Engineer
Valid Florida certificate as an Engineering Intern for Utilities Associate Engineer I and II
Professional Engineers (PE) License in the state of Florida or the ability to obtain within ninety (90) days via reciprocity from another state for Utilities Senior Engineer
Knowledge of the principles and practices of civil or environmental engineering as applied to the development, construction, operation and maintenance of public utilities and engineering projects
Knowledge of Geographical Information Systems such as ArcGIS and ArcMap
Skill in analytical engineering problem solving
Skill in the use of a variety of computer programs, including Microsoft Office, GIS or CAD and various other office equipment
Ability to maintain effective oral and written communications with the Engineering Division Manager, other employees and general public
Ability to operate a personal computer as a tool in analysis and design
Ability to use hydraulic modeling software such as InfoWater/InfoSWMM
The majority of position duties are required to be performed on-site
