Internship, Research PhD – Summer 2026
The Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City is seeking a PhD Research Intern for the summer of 2026. The intern will contribute to innovative research on topics such as international trade, macroeconomics, and monetary policy while working with staff economists on quantitative projects involving labor market models.

Explore a quantitative project that combines a frictional labor market within a heterogenous agents New Keynesian (HANK) model
Analyze the effects of various fiscal and unemployment policies
Examine the outcomes under different types of aggregate shocks
Qualification
Required
Graduate student in economics
Strong academic record with 2-3 years of graduate education preferred
Experience in working with quantitative economic models, ideally with HANK models featuring an endogenous income process via an explicit modeling of the labor market
Preferred
Familiarity with Julia, and with parallelization and GPU programming in Julia is highly desirable
