Responsibilities
Operate band saw to cut variety of materials following established methods and procedures
Operate grinder to grind a variety of material to meet requirements of procedures
Work from mill orders and procedures to cut billets, ingots, bars, shapes and other material to specified lengths, and/or cut material sample from products for metallurgical use
Stamp or mark and identify all pieces of material following established procedures and practices
Operate crane and fork lift truck to load and secure material on cut off beds and set for proper cut length. Operate as necessary to cut off prescribed sections according to procedures. Mark and stamp discarded according to procedures and practices for use
Grind billets to desired finish
Change band saw blades and grinding wheels, maintain adequate cooling supply
Check coolant using refractometer and do conversion to determine coolant concentration
Comply with prescribed safety regulations and keep area clean
Calculate pounds per inch to determine final lengths
Order and maintain parts
Perform all maintenance
Schedule saw to provide all furnaces with material to operate
Inspect billets to determine what needs to be cleared
Maintain inventory on a variety of supply items
Create new documents for record keeping as needed
Final inspection
Perform alloy verification to assure ingot matches alloy and assure that the stamped identity is clear and legible
Unloading incoming D-Rounds and maintain storage areas
Perform other duties as required or directed by work leader or supervisor
Qualification
Required
Must be able to maintain IME certification by fulfilling all requirements
Able to read and follow written procedures, able to properly use measuring devices

High School Diploma or GE
