They are seeking an Arizona-licensed lawyer to establish and oversee their US legal operations as the Compliance Lawyer, delivering commercial legal services and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
Act as the Compliance / Principal Lawyer for Arizona Alternative Business Structure (ABS)
Lead and support the ABS application and ongoing regulatory compliance with the Arizona Supreme Court and State Bar
Maintain oversight of professional conduct, ethics, supervision, conflicts, advertising compliance, and client funds
Help design and implement compliant internal processes, policies, and governance frameworks
Serve as the primary escalation point for compliance and professional responsibility matters Legal Services
Deliver commercial and corporate legal services to startups and small businesses, including:
Contract drafting and review
Commercial agreements
Early-stage corporate matters
General business advisory work
Trademarks
Supervise and quality-check legal work as the team grows
Work closely with product and operations teams to ensure legal services are compliantly integrated cleanly with platform
Help establish US legal operations on the ground
Work independently as the first US-based lawyer while collaborating closely with leadership teams in Australia and the UK
Support future expansion into additional US states through compliant co-counsel arrangements
Qualification
Required
Admitted and in good standing as a lawyer licensed in Arizona
Eligible and willing to act as a Compliance Lawyer under Arizona's ABS framework
Strong experience in commercial and corporate law
Comfortable advising startups and small businesses
Able to work autonomously and make sound professional judgments
Strong understanding of legal ethics and professional responsibility
Comfortable working in a startup environment with evolving processes
Preferred
Experience in-house, at a startup, or in an alternative legal services model
Exposure to regulated environments or compliance-heavy roles
Interest in legal tech, innovation, and new ways of delivering legal services
Experience working in distributed or remote teams
