Research Scientist - Materials Science and Engineering - Penn Engineering

Responsibilities
Conduct hands-on materials science research in the lab; present research at internal group meetings, events, external conferences, and workshops; write and publish research articles; co-write reports for funding agencies with the PI; review submitted manuscripts for journals; and present work at project meetings with collaborators and funding agencies
Train students and postdocs to minimize time for lab onboarding and familiarization. Support and supervise students and postdocs to maximize research productivity and rigor
Search for research funding opportunities; proofread, edit, and write research grant proposals. Oversee the management, usage and distribution of budgets
Supervise, maintain and oversee laboratory equipment and its usage. Oversee laboratory organization, safety, materials, supplies, samples, processes, and communications. Recommend and oversee implementation of ideas for improving laboratory function
Co-teach graduate and undergraduate courses during some semesters. Guest lecture for PI as needed
Qualification
Required
Master's degree in Materials Science and Engineering or related field
Minimum of three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
