Responsibilities

Work in close partnership with the IU Undergraduate Research office and Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education (VPUE) leadership to expand access to research and other experiential learning opportunities. This includes providing essential programming and logistical support to the expanding STEM Summer Research Program and contributing to other major VPUE experiential learning initiatives
Oversee daily operations of the STEM LLC, including community-building initiatives, academic programming, staff supervision, budget management, and collaboration with Residential Programs and Services
Develop, implement, and assess programming that fosters early engagement in undergraduate research, mentorship, and academic success for first-year STEM students
Provide individualized outreach, advising, and support to help students navigate research pathways and connect with high-impact learning experiences
Recruit highly motivated students with strong STEM interests through strategic marketing and participation in campus recruitment activities
Manage the application, selection, and notification process for new and returning LLC residents in coordination with IU Housing and Residence Life
Teach a 1-credit professional development course for STEM LLC residents in alignment with campus-wide first-year seminar efforts
Hire, train, and supervise student leaders and peer tutors who support LLC programming
Cultivate a network of faculty and staff mentors to engage residents in professional development and networking events
Lead assessment, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts to demonstrate impact on student engagement, retention, and academic achievement
Provide support for IU Undergraduate Research Office
Partner closely with the IU Undergraduate Research (IUUR) office to advance and support the STEM Summer Research Program and other major experiential learning initiatives
Collaborate with IUUR staff to expand access to research opportunities, particularly for first-year students, through outreach events, workshops, and student advising
Develop and implement programs and initiatives geared at enhancing and reinforcing the academic engagement and experiential learning capacity of the student experience. Project programming outcomes at the program, department/division, or campus level
Interface directly with students, attending student programming events and gathering satisfaction feedback from student participants to implement into future student programming initiatives and objectives
Collaborate with staff in own department and other departments, as well as academic and campus leaders, on shared student programming goals, often coordinating funding to sponsor student programs
Measure and evaluate effectiveness of student programs against projected outcomes; regularly prepare reports on impact to students and budget and present to stakeholders on effectiveness and to secure funding for initiatives moving forward
Serve on committees and perform student programming research across the field of higher education and at peer institutions to identify and recommend best practices
Plan and coordinate communications and targeted outreach for student programming initiatives to ensure student participation and inclusion
May provide guidance to other Student Programming Specialists; make process recommendations to manager for improved delivery of service
May serve on various campus or cross-functional committees to share student programming best practices

Required

Bachelor's degree in education, social work, public affairs, counseling, business, or related field
5 years in student services, higher education, or related field
Proficient in written and verbal communication skills
Maintains a high degree of professionalism

Possesses flexibility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Preferred

Master's degree in counseling, student affairs, higher education, STEM, social sciences, human development, or related field
3 years of progressive administrative experience working with college students, faculty, and staff in a higher education setting
College-level teaching and/or presentation experience
Demonstrated success in program development, implementation, and assessment
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities
Proficiency with common higher education software, e.g., student information systems, databases, Microsoft Office, early alert systems, and ability to learn new information technology (IT) platforms
Ability to engage with relevant professional organizations (Great Lakes Association of College and University Housing Officers (GLACUHO), Association of College and University Housing Officers-International (ACUHO-I), etc.)
Experience working across varied perspectives and fostering a welcoming environment
