Project Architect / Senior Architectural Designer

FAZIO Architects is a boutique architecture and interior design studio based in Austin, Texas. They are seeking a Project Architect / Senior Architectural Designer to take ownership of project delivery, contribute to design development, and produce clear, coordinated drawings.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary internal point of coordination for assigned projects with support from Principals
Coordinate consultants (MEP, structural, civil, etc.) through DD and CD phases
Manage schedules, deadlines, and deliverables
Prepare meeting agendas, track action items, and follow through
Identify issues early and propose thoughtful, practical solutions
Develop architectural design through DD and CD phases in collaboration with Principals
Make and test design decisions at the planning, detailing, and systems-integration level
Ensure design intent is strengthened — not diluted — through documentation
Identify opportunities to improve spatial quality, material expression, and detailing
Assist with preparation of presentation materials and internal design reviews
Produce and coordinate drawings in Revit through DD and CD phases
Maintain drawing clarity, consistency, and technical quality
Apply building codes, zoning requirements, and life-safety principles confidently
Resolve design and technical conflicts in coordination with consultants
Participate in internal drawing reviews focused on coordination and completeness
Assist with RFIs, submittals, and construction documentation as needed
Participate in construction-phase coordination on an as-needed basis
Construction Administration support is part of the project lifecycle at FAZIO, but this role is intentionally focused on project delivery, documentation, and design execution

Required

Typically 6–9 years of professional experience in an architecture firm
Experience delivering technically complex projects with meaningful consultant coordination and rigorous CD production
Strong background in Design Development and Construction Documentation
Comfort applying building codes, zoning regulations, and life-safety concepts
Demonstrated ability to balance design quality with technical and budgetary constraints
High level of proficiency in Revit
Clear, direct written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects with varying timelines

Preferred

Experience with commercial or other technically complex project types is strongly preferred
High-end residential experience can also be a strong fit if it involved comparable complexity, coordination, and documentation rigor
Architectural Licensure Is Preferred But Not Required
