Responsibilities
Support a large-scale wireless network program
Focus on RAN scoping, radio network design, and tuning/optimization across LTE and 5G technologies
Lead technical activities, produce scoping/design recommendations, and drive performance improvements using planning and optimization tools
Qualification
Required
10+ years of wireless engineering experience
BSEE / BSCS or equivalent applicable experience
Recent hands-on experience in radio network design, implementation, and/or tuning/optimization
Technical leadership across 5+ projects
2+ large-scale projects (major metro or statewide) leading all technical activities
Includes technical organization/oversight and strong communication with teams and customer stakeholders
Technology exposure must include multiple of: 5G NR, Massive MIMO, mmWave, LAA, 4G LTE, IoT, CBRS, multi-vendor RAN
Understanding of Layer 3 messages for 4G and 5G
Ability to perform event analysis and improve: Accessibility, Retainability, Handover success rates
Strong experience with Planet EV and/or Atoll
Link budget expertise
Able to build new projects in planning tools, including: Tilt/azimuth optimization, Proposing new site locations
Experience using ACP (Automatic Cell Planning)
Monte Carlo analysis knowledge
Model tuning experience
Able to make data-backed recommendations to improve a network design (cell plan)
Recommend parameter changes and feature activations based on drive test data
Experience with optimization tools such as: TEMS Investigation, Actix, Agilent, R&S
Experience tuning a loaded network and understanding artificial vs real traffic loading
Able to collect/analyze drive data and performance stats to solve complex issues
Knowledge of how IRAT procedures impact network quality
Understand impact of adding additional carriers, including 5G
Implement/experiment with RAN features based on traffic analysis
Understand relationship between handovers and capacity and how to optimize both
Working knowledge of Ericsson ENM and optimization workflows
KPI expertise with ability to recommend improvements
Understanding of enhanced uplink tuning
Strong LTE/5G optimization background
Proficient with MS Office
Strong written/verbal communication
Able to work independently while managing customer and project expectations
Able to coordinate across multiple internal teams and functions
Able to translate requirements into executable plans
