On-Road Compactor Repair Technician

Responsibilities

Perform on-site installations of stationary and self-contained compactors, including leveling, mounting, and basic wiring or hydraulic connections
Conduct preventive maintenance and service calls to inspect, troubleshoot, and repair compactors and other waste handling systems
Interface with customers and facility personnel to confirm placement, functionality, and safety of installed equipment
Coordinate with dispatch and shop teams for equipment delivery, site access, and post-install follow-up
Test all components post-installation to ensure functionality and safety compliance
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in the field using manuals, diagnostic tools, and checklists
Document work performed, parts used, and any customer concerns using service tickets or mobile forms
Ensure proper use and maintenance of company truck, tools, and inventory
Follow all safety protocols when working at industrial, retail, or construction sites
Represent the company professionally, maintaining good communication and clean work practices at customer locations

Required

Working knowledge of hydraulic systems, basic electrical components, and power tools
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, work orders, and technical manuals
Valid driver's license and clean driving record required
Able to work independently, manage time effectively, and communicate clearly with customers
Physically capable of lifting heavy parts, climbing ladders, and working in outdoor conditions
Strong problem-solving skills and customer-focused mindset

Preferred

2+ years of experience in field service, mechanical installation, or compactor repair
DOT certification
forklift experience
welding background
