Senior Data Engineer

World's Finest® Chocolate is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to manage their back-end data environment that supports growing analytics and digital capabilities. This role focuses on building and maintaining scalable data solutions, developing data pipelines, and ensuring reliable, AI-ready data for informed decision-making across the organization.

Responsibilities

Design and implement a scalable data lake/data warehouse architecture to centralize data from multiple systems (Salesforce, Stratum, SAP, etc.)
Build, test, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines for automated data ingestion and transformation
Partner with business users to understand analytical requirements and design underlying data structures to support them
Define and maintain data models, ensuring standardization of definitions, hierarchies, and metrics
Manage data validation and quality control to ensure accuracy and consistency across platforms
Integrate external data sources (e.g., demographic, geographic, or customer data) efficiently into the core environment
Support deployment of BI and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.) by preparing optimized datasets and queries
Document data architecture, pipelines, and governance processes for scalability and future handoffs
Work with IT security to maintain appropriate access control, data privacy, and compliance standards
Collaborate with the Strategy & Insights team to identify gaps in data infrastructure and plan roadmap enhancements

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field
5+ years of experience in data engineering, database management, or analytics infrastructure roles
Hands-on experience with building and maintaining data lakes or data warehouses
Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and ETL frameworks
Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., DataBricks, Snowflake, Azure Data Factory, AWS Redshift, or Google BigQuery)
Working knowledge of APIs and data integration tools
Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
Strong communication and documentation skills

Preferred

Experience integrating ERP (SAP) and CRM (Salesforce) systems
Familiarity with data governance and master data management (MDM) concepts
Experience supporting analytics or BI enablement projects
