Responsibilities

Providing statewide coverage throughout Pennsylvania, including court appearances and depositions
Locating and organizing exhibits and transcripts for cases awaiting briefs
Drafting findings of fact, conclusions of law, and briefs for workers’ compensation judges
Preparing appellate briefs and occasional appeals to the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board
Preparing petitions for review, docketing statements, statements of issues, briefs, reproduced records, and motions to the Commonwealth Court
Conducting legal research on a wide range of workers’ compensation issues
Reviewing published appellate decisions to draft concise case summaries
Reviewing and screening new client matters to assess likelihood of success
Evaluating other sources of income that may affect benefit value
Identifying appeal and statute of limitation deadlines
Reviewing medical and vocational records
Preparing clients and claims for hearings through conferences, briefing, file and e-file review, strategic recommendations, and post-hearing summaries
Delegating tasks to case managers as appropriate
Managing all aspects of client relationships

Required

Must hold a Juris Doctor and bachelor's degree
One to four years of workers' compensation experience (defense or claimant)
