Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (Linux)
K2United is an organization that provides advisory services in cyber risk management and online education for workforce readiness. The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (Linux) will be responsible for managing Linux systems in AWS, ensuring their stability, security, and availability while supporting critical business operations.

Responsibilities
Help ensure that Linux environments running in AWS are predictable, observable, and recoverable, even under failure conditions
Ownership of patching, hardening, access controls, monitoring, and incident response will reduce operational risk and increase confidence during audits, deployments, and periods of peak demand
Maintain clear runbooks and operational documentation to enable shared ownership and reduce dependency on tribal knowledge or individual heroics
Improve system reliability, shorten recovery times, and help the organization scale responsibly without sacrificing stability
Qualification
Required
7+ years of hands-on experience in Linux system administration, cloud engineering, or infrastructure operations with direct responsibility for production systems
Strong experience operating Linux workloads in AWS, including EC2, IAM, monitoring, and supporting services
Deep Linux expertise, including: System patching and lifecycle management, OS-level security hardening and access control, SSH, sudo, user and permission management, System troubleshooting and performance tuning
Experience supporting high-availability or mission-critical environments with on-call or incident response responsibility
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD, using tools such as Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Docker, or similar
Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining security controls in regulated or security-conscious environments
Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as NIST 800-53, FISMA, or similar control-based standards
Experience using monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch or equivalent
Strong documentation discipline, including the ability to create and maintain accurate runbooks and operational documentation
Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, security, and operations teams
A proactive, ownership-driven mindset, especially when system availability or security is at risk
